If you host private charge stations on Chargefox, you can restrict access to your stations via the Charging access tab.
Stations are unrestricted by default, meaning any RFID - inside or outside your organisation - can start a charge session at the station, unless charging access restrictions have been applied. Private stations are never shown in the Chargefox app.
How to apply access restrictions to private station(s)
To apply access restrictions to a station, click on the Charging access tab from the Charge stations page.
Click on the Add new button.
- Select which charge station(s) you want to restrict access for
- Select any organisation or fleet you wish to have access to the station.
- (Optional) Give the new access rule a nickname
Then click Save.
Your new access rule has been created.
You can view and edit the access rule by clicking on the nickname. To delete the access rule, click on Delete in the table.
FAQs
Which RFIDs in an organisation or fleet will have access to a station if they’re included in an access rule?
When you add an organisation to an access rule, all RFID cards linked to the organisation or fleet will be able to access the station.
What happens if new RFIDs are added to my fleet or organisation in an access rule?
Any new RFIDs in a fleet that is part of an access rule automatically gets access to the stations via the rule. There’s no need to update the access rule. If an RFID is removed from a fleet, that RFID seizes to have access to the restricted stations.
Are new private stations automatically added to an existing access rule?
No, to ensure the station can be used and tested as soon as it's onboarded, private stations are always unrestricted by default. To restrict access to a new private station, you can create a new access rule or edit an existing access rule to include the new station.
How do I add access for RFIDs that are outside my organisation, eg. RFIDs that are managed by a FMO?
You can currently only include groups of RFIDs from within your own fleet and organisation in Chargefox. We recommend keeping your station unrestricted to allow RFIDs outside your organisation access.
What happens when I remove a station from an access rule?
If the charge station isn’t included in other access rules, station access becomes unrestricted, and any RFID - inside or outside your organisation - can start a charge session at the station.
