You can now invite your fleet drivers or novated customers to charge on Chargefox via the mobile app as part of your organisation. The mobile app serves as an alternative to RFIDs, allowing you to connect your drivers to chargers faster and reduce your time managing cards and fobs. Drivers can use the app to find stations, start a charge session and see their charging history, while fleet managers can manage and track usage and costs.
Overview
Fleet managers and operators can link a driver to a fleet vehicle from the Chargefox fleet portal. This will generate an invite code that will be sent to the driver’s email address. Once the driver adds their invite code to the Chargefox app, their account will be linked to the fleet vehicle.
When the driver charges with their linked account, their session will be added to your fleet invoice. You’ll be able to track all charge sessions made for the vehicle, whether the session is initiated via RFID or mobile app.
Step by step guide
Inviting a driver
Login to the Chargefox portal and navigate to the Vehicles page via Fleet > Vehicles in the top navigation.
Add or search for the vehicle you wish to link the driver to. Click the three-dot menu on the left of that vehicle and click Invite driver.
In the modal, enter the email address of the driver you wish to invite. Click the Invite button to confirm.
The driver will receive an email to the given email address from Chargefox which will enable them to link their mobile app account to the vehicle in your organisation.
Until the driver activates their invite, the driver status will show as pending in the vehicle row. Once they activate the invite, their name will appear next to the vehicle.
Cancelling an invite
If the driver hasn’t yet accepted their invite and you wish to retract it, you can click the Driver label in the driver column of the relevant fleet vehicle on the Vehicles page. Click Cancel in the dropdown that appears. When you cancel an invite, the driver will no longer be able to use the invite code in the app. You can send another invite if you wish.
Removing a driver from a vehicle
You can remove a linked driver from your fleet vehicle by clicking their name in the driver column on the Vehicles page in the fleet portal. Click Remove driver in the dropdown. The driver will no longer be able to see your organisation as an expense provider in the app when they start a session. You’ll still be able to see their charging history in your usage report. Drivers can continue using their Chargefox account using a personal credit card.
Tracking charging usage
Whether a driver uses the app or an RFID, you’ll be able to track their charging usage the way you’re used to. The driver’s charge sessions will be tracked against the vehicle, which is visible in the fleet usage report in the Chargefox portal. The sessions will also be reflected on your invoice at the end of your billing period.
