This article serves as a guide for Maintenance Partners on the process of replacing or removing EV charging stations.
If a charge station needs to be removed from the Chargefox platform, the station owner must submit a request to our support team at support@chargefox.com.
For a detailed step-by-step guide on this process, please refer to the article: Removing or replacing a station on the Chargefox platform
Disconnecting a station from the Chargefox server
To ensure a station no longer communicates with the Chargefox platform, the OCPP URL must be removed from the station’s configuration. The current Chargefox OCPP endpoint is:
wss://ocpp.chargefox.com/ocpp/1.6
If you're unsure how to update or remove this setting, we recommend reaching out to the station supplier or manufacturer, as they will be best equipped to assist with the configuration changes.
Please note that once a station is removed, if it is using a SIM card provided by Chargefox, this SIM will also be deactivated.
Important notes
SIM Card Deactivation: Once a station is removed from the Chargefox platform, any SIM card provided by Chargefox associated with the station will also be deactivated.
Label Removal: To avoid confusion for drivers, please ensure that all Chargefox branding or labels are removed from the station once it is no longer operating on the Chargefox network.
Replacing a station
If you're swapping out an old station for a new one, you’ll need to submit a Handover Form so we can update our records.
What to include in the Handover Form:
- Details of the new station
- Updated Station ID (if it has changed)
- New Charge Box Identity (CBI)
- The station it is replacing and should be removed, if it hasn’t been already
Important: Make sure you select “Yes” for the question “Is this a replacement charger?” This tells our team that it's part of an existing site and helps ensure a smooth transition.
