Chargefox subscriptions are linked to a specific vehicle and apply only when that nominated vehicle is being charged.
To help ensure subscriptions are used as intended and remain fair and sustainable for eligible drivers, Chargefox has introduced enhanced vehicle identification measures across the network.
What has changed?
Chargefox now uses vehicle identification checks to confirm that the vehicle being charged matches the vehicle linked to a subscription.
If a charging session is started using a different vehicle:
- The subscription will not be applied to that session
- Charging costs will be billed at standard rates to the primary payment method on your account (for example, your credit card)
What does this mean for me?
- ✅ Nothing changes if you are charging the vehicle your subscription applies to
- ⚠️ If a different vehicle is used, the session will be billed at standard charging rates
These safeguards help protect fair use of subscriptions and ensure reliable access to the Chargefox network for all eligible drivers.
Why was my card charged instead of my subscription?
Your subscription was not applied because our systems identified that the vehicle being charged was not the vehicle linked to your subscription.
When this happens, charging is billed automatically to the payment method on your Chargefox account, in line with our subscription terms.
What should I do if I think this was a mistake?
If you believe a charging session was billed incorrectly, please contact our support team here so we can review it.
Before reaching out, it’s a good idea to check that:
- The vehicle you were charging is the one your subscription applies to
- Your vehicle details are correct and up to date in the Chargefox app
