The chargers on the Chargefox network are owned and operated by businesses, government organisations, councils, energy providers and other charger owners.
We'd love to see EV charging available everywhere drivers need it. However, Chargefox does not decide where new chargers are installed. Chargefox provides the software platform that charger owners use to manage their charging stations, and the Chargefox app that drivers use to find, start and pay for charging sessions.
The chargers on the Chargefox network are owned and operated by businesses, government organisations, councils, energy providers and other charger owners.
Who decides where chargers are installed?
The decision to install a new charger, including its location, charger type and pricing, is made by the charger owner. This may include:
- Local councils
- State or federal government agencies
- Shopping centres and retail precincts
- Hotels and accommodation providers
- Workplaces and fleet operators
- Service stations and convenience retailers
- Energy companies and charging network operators
- Apartment building owners and body corporates
Chargefox cannot install chargers on behalf of these organisations or direct them to build chargers in a specific location.
How can I encourage more chargers in my area?
If you'd like to see additional charging infrastructure near your home, workplace or along a regular travel route, we recommend contacting:
- Your local council
- Local businesses and shopping centres
- Property owners and managers
- State government EV infrastructure programs
- Community organisations involved in sustainability or transport initiatives
Demand from residents, customers and visitors is often an important factor when organisations are considering new charging projects.
