DC, 'fast' and 'ultra rapid' stations
DC charge stations provide rapid charging using direct current. They typically have charging speeds of between 25 and 350+kW. In Australia, DC stations support two connector types:
| CCS2 (Combined Charging System 2) | |
| CHADEMO |
Both plug types are permanently attached to DC charging stations, so you don't need to bring your own cable. In Australia, CHAdeMO plugs have become less common.
AC, 'slow', 'trickle' and 'standard' stations
AC charging stations provide slower charging using alternating current. They typically have charging speeds between 7 and 22kW. AC stations feature Type 2 and some older Type 1) connectors and often require drivers to bring their own cable.

You can check whether a station requires you to bring your own cable by tapping on its station pin in the Chargefox app. Learn more
Checking the plug types of a station
You can check which plug types are supported by viewing a station's details in the Chargefox app.
When you tap a pin icon on the map, a drawer slides up from the bottom of the screen. This 'Station details' drawer shows the plug types available at that station. If the station requires drivers to bring their own cable, this is also indicated.
